"It's all about Student Learning!"

Outcomes assessment is the systematic measurement of student performance for the purpose of improving the quality of educational programs and the institution.  It affords us the opportunity to make informed decisions that ultimately improve the teaching-learning process.

Lake Land College uses both institution-wide measures and program-specific measures to assess student outcomes.  Broad measures include the Employer Follow-up Survey, Occupational (graduate) Follow-up Survey, Student Satisfaction Survey, and Transfer Follow-up Reports.  Learner competencies have been established for each of the college's associate degree and certificate programs, and the methods of measurement of the learner competencies were designed by faculty to meet the specific needs of their individual programs.  In addition, general education competencies have been established and are measured through the use of a nationally normed test, student artifacts, prompts, and surveys.

The Instructional Improvement and Assessment Committee
(IIAC) monitors the outcomes assessment process and acts as a catalyst for continual improvement.  The IIAC also sponsors professional development activities in assessment.  The General Education Committee oversees the assessment of the general education program for Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degrees.
